Questions
The ones that come up on the telephone, answered the way we answer them.
How fit do I need to be?
For the moderate routes: comfortable walking four hours with a day pack, and able to manage six hundred metres of climb without misery. For the Ridge and the traverse, you should be doing that most weekends already. Tell us what you actually do and we will tell you honestly which route fits.
Do I carry my own bag?
No. A day pack only; your main bag goes by road to the next inn and is usually in your room before you arrive.
What if the weather turns?
We walk in rain — it is a cloud forest. We turn back or reroute for thunder on the ridge, and if a day is cancelled for weather you are not charged for it.
Why only six walkers?
Because the inns hold six beds, the paths are single file, and a group of twelve walks at the speed of an argument. It is also why some departures show full in October.
Are the days really that long?
The hours we publish are for the slowest walker in a typical group, including stops. Most groups come in under them, and nobody is hurried.
Can you do a private departure?
Yes, for four or more, on almost any date outside the wettest weeks. It costs the same per person.
